I'm an avid fan of apartment living, however, as with many good things, there are a few downsides. One such woe is the general lack of creativity in the fixtures that come with so many cheap apartments.
Matt (the wonderful hubby) and I always lament how gross apartment bathrooms can be and the generic, scrubby fixtures in ours are the biggest offenders. We got a hare-brained idea to strip ours down (appropriate bathroom verbage, eh?) and IKEA-ify it a bit. We replaced the towel rack and toilet roll holder, as well as added a tiny shelf and spare roll holder. I'm quite pleased with the results!
Sadly I forgot to take "before" pictures, but just conjure up images of any bland apartment bathroom you've ever visited and you get the basic idea. Here's how it looks now:
My favorite addition is the spare toilet roll holder which is actually an
IKEA spice rack that I re-purposed.
It's nice when just a few minor (and cheap!) changes can make a big difference.

The bathroom looks great, so much more cozy! I agree - I really like the extra tp holder. I might have to steal your Ikea-hack!
very nice...we're heading to ikea this weekend for some things to spiffy up our new place.
